“Because I am a Queen” -India.Arie

“Because I am a Queen” -India.Arie

sometimes i shave my legs and sometimes i don’t
sometimes i comb my hair and sometimes i won’t
depend on how the wind blows i might even paint my toes
it really just depends on whatever feels good in my soul

i’m not the average from your video
and i ain’t built like a supermodel
but i learned to love myself unconditionally
because i am a queen
i’m not the average from your video
my worth is not determined by the price of my clothes
no matter what i’m wearing i will always be
india arie

when i look in the mirror and the only one there is me
every freckle on my face is where it’s supposed to be
and i know my creator didn’t make no mistakes on me
my feet my thighs my lips my eyes i’m loving what i see

i’m not the average from your video
and i ain’t built like a supermodel
but i learned to love myself unconditionally
because i am a queen (yeah)
i’m not the average from your video (woo)
my worth is not determined by the price of my clothes (whoa)
no matter what i’m wearing i will always be
india arie

am i less of a lady if i don’t wear hose
my mama said a lady ain’t what she wears but what she knows
but i’ve drawn the conclusion
it’s all an illusion
confusion’s the name of the game
a misconception a vast deception,
something’s got to change

don’t be offended this is all my opinion
ain’t nothing that i’m saying law
this is a true confession
of a life-learned lesson
i was sent here to share with y’all
so get in when you fit in
go on and shine
clear your mind
now’s the time
put your salt on the shelf
go on and love yourself (love yourself)
’cause everything’s gonna be alright (love yourself)

i’m not the average from your video
and i ain’t built like a supermodel
but i learned to love myself unconditionally
because i am a queen (yeah)
i’m not the average from your video (woo)
my worth is not determined by the price of my clothes (whoa)
no matter what i’m wearing i will always be
india arie

keep your fancy drink and your expensive minks
i don’t need that to have a good time
keep your expensive cars
and your caviar
all’s i need is my guitar
keep your cristal and your pistol
i’d rather have a pretty piece of crystal
don’t need your silicone
i prefer my own
what god gave me is just fine
(oh hah hah hah)

i’m not the average from your video
and i ain’t built like a supermodel
but i learned to love myself unconditionally
because i am a queen (yeah)
i’m not the average from your video (woo)
my worth is not determined by the price of my clothes (whoa)
no matter what i’m wearing i will always be

Plans for my future…..Who I am

Plans for my future…..Who I am

Read the verses of Scripture and answer the questions listed below.

Ephesians 2:10. How does this verse of Scripture emphasize the fact that you and I were created in response to God’s plan, not as an afterthought or as an accident? I love that it says we are his “workmanship” and that we are created in Christ Jesus. It also says that God created in advance good works to do. Therefore, he must be working a plan out for me.

Psalm 8:3-5. How do these verses line up with the way you see yourself right now? What one immediate change do you need to make in order to see yourself the way God sees you? 3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? 5 You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. – Psalm 8:3-5. Wow. So true. I must know in my heart and spirit that God made me who I am for a purpose, to bring him glory and show love.

Jeremiah 29:11. Are you living a life plan that gives you hope and a future? Is it the right plan? I am living a life plan that involves loving and seeking Jesus. I’m not perfect, but I am on the right track for God to continue showing me his plan and using me.

I praise you because…

I praise you because…

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be (Psalm 139:14-15, NIV).

Conversations With God…

Conversations With God…

There once was a man who had a huge desire to please God, so he prayed day and night until one day a Voice spoke to him, “I want you to go and push a rock.”

The man woke up the next morning elated, and ran outside to find a huge boulder. He began pushing it, but nothing happened, so he kept at it all day. The next day he did the same, yet it still didn’t budge an inch. He went on like that for three months, until one day he got so frustrated that he stopped pushing.

That night he had a dream, and the Voice asked him, “Why did you stop pushing?” “Nothing happened,” he answered. “Nothing happened? Look at you! Look how determined and focused you’ve become. Look how powerful your muscles are now. You’re no longer the person you were when you started.
Besides, I didn’t tell you to move the rock; I told you to push it. I’ll move the rock when it’s time.”

Keep pushing your rock. It’ll move at the right moment, in the perfect time, when you least expect it. And amazing things are happening, even if you’re not noticing them yet.

Hello there!

Hello there!

Well, needless to say…it’s been a while! I hope I can recommit to blogging everyday. Wish me luck. Since March, I have landed a permanent position here at the job, and I think I’m getting a lot better at it! My family and I took a vacation to Tampa, FL. And life has been pretty sweet. My son, Austin, turned five on his birthday this month. That’s crazy! He’s really five? Wow.

So things are good. I hope I continue to be so blessed.

My Travels…

My Travels…

So letting you see a bit of my first travel in a long time. I used to travel alot in my teens, have family all over the place and also traveled singing in a group I was in every summer. But when I had Austin, things changed. Small family trips to mountains, and things like that with him but nothing too serious.

So with my new job I’ve been at about 2 months now, I have traveled this week to train at their sister company in Monroe, Louisiana. At first I was immensely nervous. I haven’t traveled in forever, and *gasp* actually have NEVER flown on a plane by choice. I have no desire to be suspended in the air, subject to the elements and a human pilot with no control (I also plan to never cruise for that matter thank you). But, after flying on the first part of my plane trip with Continental to my connector in Houston, I realized it wasn’t so bad. I have enjoyed my trip and the peace is nice. The quiet is great and when I get to the room at the end of the day, I rest and have lots of me time.

But I miss my baby, and he misses me. I am going home at the end of this week. Yay. Pictures below:

Yeehaw, my layover flight in Houston, TX. Giddy up.

Looking out the plane, getting ready for takeoff from Houston.

Flying in very small plane to Monroe. Lots of turbulence on this one folks. It was a windy day, and I seriously thought I was going to throw up all over my bossman LOL.

My Gi-normous queen ben in my very nice room. Say whaaaat? I know right! Sure ‘nough don’t have this at home. Justin is quite jealous.

The foyer of the Atrium, my hotel in Monroe, La. Quite nice. I like the old style 1940′s look. Lights on the trees? Love it!

The Brandy House, very nice restraunt I was able to eat at.

The waitress brought sorbet to cleanse the pallet. Wow. That’s first for me ok? So I’m country a little? lol

Being excited by a huge bathroom mirror and lots of light! Excited to start the day.

A great little hole in the wall Italian place that served some awesome chicken lasagna that the girls at the office took me to. Nice.

My fancy food served at the Brandy House, peppered scallops on top of grits with feta over roma tomatoes. Mmmmmm!

Great trip so far, may have more pictures later!
